Collage Collab

I love mixed media collages. I enjoy both viewing and making them-- the raw creativity, the instinctive decisions being made, and the seemingly endless possibilities of materials that can be combined. The chaotic aesthetic is so captivating, yet there's always an underlying sense of order and composition. What I truly appreciate is the wide range of interpretations a collage can evoke. Above all, it's just plain fun piecing it all together.

This is my first collaborative collage. Last week, I worked with the talented digital artist fearofrevolt from Ireland (I’m based in New York), exchanging ideas and images via email. Without even realizing it, I found myself sticking to an orange theme, selecting two images dominated by that color.  I had wanted to add a splash of paint of a different tone in the upper right corner, maybe something cooler and blueer. Or pinkish. But I was without a color printer that particular day and wanting to maintain our swift creative exchange, I decided to forego that idea.

Here's how our piece evolved. He went first with this:

Until we decided on this

I suggested a word or a phrase to be included and he came up with the famous saying, "Youth is wasted on the young". I later learned that this quote is attributed to George Bernard Shaw and that's who the man in our collage is!

fearofrevolt has an online shop on RedBubble -He has an Instagram page as well and so do I - that's how we know each other.

I also have a link on Fine Art America but it looks as though RedBubble might be more my style and cup of tea. Hopefully by the time I post my next entry, I'll have my own RedBubble account up and running xoxo
